ZARA ORIGINS

ZARA ATHLETICZ MEN’S - AW22

Whilst working as a Sportswear Designer at Zara Athleticz, I was tasked with designing a selection of technical performance pieces for Origins, Zara's premium collection.

The brief was to introduce functional sportswear products that complemented the existing range whilst remaining true to the refined, elevated aesthetic that defines Origins. The collection balanced technical performance with contemporary design, creating versatile pieces that could be seamlessly cross-merchandised alongside the wider collection.

CREATIVE DIRECTION

The creative direction drew inspiration from Vivaldi's The Four Seasons, exploring the transition between seasons through a muted, tonal colour palette and a technical and elevated material story. The challenge was interpreting this into a technical sportswear range.

DESIGN PHASE

Key pieces included a multi-pocket windbreaker, technical cargo trousers, a perforated performance long sleeve, running sunglasses and a reflective cap.

Each product was designed with versatility in mind, allowing pieces to be styled together or paired with existing Origins garments. The premium positioning of the collection also provided the opportunity to explore elevated construction details, technical fabrics and considered trims that enhanced both performance and aesthetic appeal.

RANGE PLAN & OUTFIT BUILDING

As the technical sportswear offering sat within a broader lifestyle collection, every design was developed to work beyond a single outfit. Careful consideration was given to colour, proportion and styling, ensuring each piece could be mixed and matched across the wider Origins range while maintaining a cohesive visual identity.

3D RENDERS

High-resolution 3D visualisations were created to communicate the final collection prior to sampling. The renders accurately showcased the silhouette, fabric textures, trims and styling, providing a realistic representation of how the collection would appear as a finished product while supporting internal presentation and design sign-off.

TECHPACKS

With the designs approved, the collection moved into technical development. Factory-ready tech packs were created for every style, capturing all construction details, materials and finishing specifications to support a smooth sampling process and clear communication with manufacturers.
